Christians are the real counterculture

We heard a lot in the 1960's about how hippies represented the counterculture. I said
on Twitter that conservative Christians are the "new counterculture," but I was wrong. Christians have
always been the counterculture. It has come into sharper focus the last decade, but it has always been true. The Lord Jesus Christ tells us in John 15:19 that we are not of the world: "I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." Jesus also warns us in Matthew 24:9 that we "shall be hated of all nations for My name's sake."
The "counterculture" in the 1960's was an attempt by the old guard to throw off the real counterculture and re-establish the old order of paganism, rampant sexual depravity, hedonism and moral relativism. And yes, materialism is a big part of that. Because Jesus is the Word, the old guard hates objective truth and seeks to replace it with "my truth" and "your truth."
The exact same people who promoted a "live and let live" attitude when seeking to overthrow traditional morality now become enraged when Christian conservatives seek to rediscover traditional norms, especially living a "trad life" focused on a family with children. Households that embrace this must be a nightmare where the wife is abused, not a happy place.
If you doubt that Christians are the counterculture, look at the dominant culture - especially large corporations. Every major corporation paints their logos in rainbow colors every June. Every major corporation has embraced "woke" culture, which is antithetical to free speech. Obviously, free speech is critical to spreading the Gospel. "Woke" corporations and even many government seek to silence Christian witness on sex and gender. Even Protestants should be alarmed at how the Rosary is being portrayed as an "extremist" and even "violent" symbol.
We can and should seek to have Christian principles embedded in our laws, but we should always understand that we are outnumbered and we are always fighting against the dominant culture. This is because Satan is the ruler of this world and that we are fighting spiritual wickedness in high places. But be assured, we will win. All nations will eventually submit to Christ, and every knee shall bow and confess that Christ is Lord.
