The attack on pregnancy centers is pro-abortion and anti-choice

By Scott Tibbs, July 27, 2022

Pro-abortion politicians and pundits have complained for decades that abortion opponents are "pro-birth" instead of pro-life. This was always a hoax, as churches and private charities have helped women with pregnancy for many years. Now that Roe v. Wade has finally been reversed, pro-abortion forces have lashed out at pregnancy centers. They are determined to wage a scorched-earth campaign that leaves women with fewer options. This is motivated by pure spite.

Elizabeth Warren went to far as to demand that the federal government "close" pregnancy centers, which would be a violation if the First Amendment rights of free speech and free association. Warren has done this before, when she threatened to use the federal government to punish people who mildly criticize her on social media. In a perfect world, we would have criminal penalties for abuses of power like this one. Warren is far more of a threat to our democracy than the idiots who ineptly stormed the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, because she actually has power.

What this controversy has done is expose large swaths of the abortion rights movement as actively pro-abortion. They cannot abide women getting care from an organization that does not perform abortions, and are determined to take that choice away from women. It has been said that abortion is a sacrament to the radical Left, and the obsession with destroying pregnancy centers has demonstrated just how much this has taken on a religious tone.

The solution is actually very simple, and mirrors the (now obviously hypocritical) rhetoric of the pro-abortion movement: If you do not like pregnancy centers, do not go there. There are other options available, and no one is forced to take free diapers or get a free ultrasound from a pregnancy center. But the pro-abortion movement does not want to allow choice, which is why labeling them "pro-choice" is completely false.
